Frequently Asked Questions

Counseling & Spiritual Direction

What is the difference between Counseling and Spiritual Direction?

Although spiritual direction is similar to therapy and may touch on some of the same life issues or relationships, it is not counseling or psychotherapy. Counseling addresses psychological and life issues with problem solving and symptom alleviation while working towards common therapeutic goals with a treatment plan. If you plan to use insurance for counseling, please know that insurance requires a mental health diagnosis. Spiritual direction focuses on your relationship with God, is dependent on the leading of the Spirit, and will focus on intimacy with God, spiritual growth, and discernment.

Rates:

Spiritual Direction - $95 per session

Counseling - $150 per session - only available to those residing in Texas

Scholarships for both counseling and spiritual direction are available based on need. Various methods of payment are accepted. Insurance companies currently accepted for counseling services include: BCBS TX PPO and HMO, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, and Cigna. BCBS managed by Magellan is out of network at this time.

Sessions:

Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes via HIPPA complaint, confidential, online video. Counseling sessions are scheduled according to your personal needs and may meet weekly, every other week, or monthly. Spiritual direction sessions typically meet once per month. There may be times when you need to meet more frequently or desire a longer session. Please let me know in advance, and I will be happy to accommodate your needs. You may schedule an appointment online or by contacting me via HIPPA compliant email, text, or phone.
